A week ago today, Supreme unveiled a new capsule alongside outerwear specialists Barbour. With a trio of waxed cotton jackets appointed as the range’s creative apex, a small assortment of accessory pieces did well to solidify the pair’s collaborative effort. And now, with the current spring/summer season now in mid bloom, Supreme is readying its latest seasonal offering, this time taking aim at the late, great, Daniel Johnston. A native of Austin, Texas, the multifaceted artist experienced both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and as such, laid the foundation for a truly distinct body of work.
The streetwear stalwart chose to honor Johnston by stamping some of the artist’s most prized pieces onto a set of casual classics. For instance, the infamous frog caricature from the his 1983 album Hi How Are You ends up underscoring long-sleeve plaid shirts and work pants, while his comic book Space Ducks – An Infinite Comic Book of Musical Greatness did the same on a spattering of hoodies and T-shirts.
