outkast stankonia

Tried and true OutKast fans finally have a reason to celebrate, as the legendary hip-hop duo is readying the re-release of arguably their most successful drop to date. Many of those who were raised on late ‘90s/early ‘00s hip-hop have long sang the praises of Stankonia’s seminal impact—several of whom would place the album amongst some of the very best of all time. A run down of the set’s track list confirms this train of thought, with such joints as “B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad),” “Ms. Jackson” and “So Fresh, So Clean” earlier cementing their spots as all-time rap classics.

Originally hitting the scene in October of 2000, Stankonia is now celebrating 20 momentous years in the game, and will once again make its presence felt in groundbreaking 24-bit and 360 Reality Audio formats. As such, the project will feature a set of bonus tracks and previously unreleased remixes, including imaginative versions of the aforementioned tracks above. Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine had been tasked with reworking “B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad),” while Mr. Drunk did his thing on “Ms. Jackson.” Last but not least, Snoop Dogg and Sleepy Brown can be heard cutting up “So Fresh, So Clean.”

The new project will drop in both digital and vinyl editions, with the latter being offered to Vinyl Me, Please members as the club’s October record of the month. Pressed on a “Black and White Galaxy” vinyl, the double LP will also come with an art print. In other rap news, be sure to check out Westside Gunn’s WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE if you haven’t already.
