If Nike has taught us anything this year, it’s that there is a concerted effort to push forth its Dunk model into the thick of both high-fashion and streetwear circles. In just 2020 alone, we’ve seen imaginative reworks from a throng of creative entities, including renditions from COMME des GARÇONS, Travis Scott, AMBUSH, and Futura, in addition to a pair of innovative offerings from the team at Slam Jam. Noted retailer, Notre, is getting in on the Dunk design action, bringing its own take on the throwback runner to the table.
Conceptually playing off a mechanic shop uniform, the healthy hits of white leather and “Light Orewood Brown” suede panels swathing the upper form a backdrop in which to highlight the embroidered Notre patch resting on the tongue. Subtle hits of red peaking out from the makeshift name badge and laces provide understated tonal contrast to its otherwise chalky, pale color scheme. The shoe’s creative apex lies in the medial side Swoosh, which upon closer inspection, features a clever handshake emblem that extends around the rear while inching its way to the lateral region.
The new Notre x Nike Dunk High “Light Orewood Brown” still has yet to receive a release date, however, is believed by some to drop around the holidays. In other sneaker news, Virgil Abloh recently teased the Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 “MoMA.”
